The rules of hokku

Three lines, seventeen syllables and a strict narrative order, these are rules of a Japanese hokku poem. It is an extremely hard task to say something new within these boundaries. Only a real master who can operate the tools perfectly and has something special to say can do it.

KLU 1 chair was inspired by the approach of Japanese masters when the simplicity is the result of careful work with details. A collection of elementary geometrical shapes was combined so that we got an elegant object for domestic needs. Сhopsticks, Taraibune boat and Geta footwear illustrate this ideology clearly enough.

“This model is my tribute to Japanese craftsmen and modern masters George Nakashima, Minoru Nagahara, Shuwa Tei и Keiji Ashizawa. I tried to create an expressive shape using a minimum of methods and lines,” says the designer Nikita Bukoros.
